Additional Athlete Opportunities

While Special Olympics at its core is an organization that offers sports training and competition for our athletes, we also offer opportunities for our athletes to have a voice in the organization and also as a voice for the organization.  Through our Athlete Leadership Programs (ALPs) SONH athletes have the opportunity to be a part or the Athlete Input Coucil (AIC), become a Gobal Messenger and/or serve on the Board of Directors.

Healthy Athlete Program

Special Olympics Healthy Athletes is a program designed to help Special Olympics athletes improve their health and fitness. Athletes receive a variety of health services through clinics conducted in welcoming environments at the SONH Summer Games; while health care professionals learn about the health needs of Special Olympics athletes and gain confidence and satisfaction in volunteering their skills to an underserved population.
