Recycle for Gold

Recycle for Gold is a program that encourages people to donate their unwanted cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles and boats (no fiberglass). The vehicles are picked up by Car World, an auto recycling company located in Candia, NH.

Does my vehicle have to meet certain quality standards in order to qualify?
All vehicles are accepted regardless of their condition.

Do I need to have a title?
In most cases, you must have the title of the car to prove ownership. However, if the vehicle is more than 15 years old, you may not need the title, but will need a copy of the most recent registration and a receipt transferring ownership to SONH.

What happens to the vehicles?
Car World, an auto recycling company located in Candia, NH, will pick up the vehicles within 2-3 business days of the call. A decision is made relative to the most cost-effective and environmentally-sound means of utilizing the vehicle. If the vehicle is in repairable or running condition, it may be sold off as such.

Is this donation tax-deductible?
By donating your unwanted vehicle to Special Olympics New Hampshire, you may be able to receive a charitable contribution deduction for the value of the vehicle. As for determining the amount of the deduction, SONH does not fix the value of the donation/gift. For vehicles with a $500 value or less, that is the responsibility of the donor. If a vehicle is sold for more than $500, SONH will provide a 1099-C tax form. You may wish to consult with your own tax advisor to determine the specific amount and timing of any deduction.

How long will it take to have my car removed?
SONH will contact you after you've donated your vehicle online or by calling (603) 624-1250 x28. Car World will then pick up your vehicle within 2-3 business days. Contact SONH if you have any questions about an arranged pickup. A receipt acknowledging the donation of the vehicle will be left when the vehicle is picked up.

By donating your vehicle to SONH you help support our year round program of sports training and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
