New Staff at SONH 

New Director of Programs

 

Special Olympics New Hampshire is excited to welcome Amy Petrie as our new Director of Programs. Amy joined SONH last week and she is already working on her first event: the Summer Games. Amy will take over for Rob Porreca as he moves into the role of Director of Communications and Grants. Amy comes to SONH after 11 years at the Merrimack YMCA, six of those years spent overseeing the daily operations.  Amy's contact information is AmyP@sonh.org or (603) 624-1250 ext. 44.

Soccer Jamboree

May 21 at Seacoast United Outdoor Fields

The Soccer tournament is next weekend, and a link to the Tentative games schedule is below.  Coaches and Local Program Coordinators of teams in the 22+ division, please look at the schedule and let Mary Conroy know if you are ok with the format by 5pm this Friday.  The schedule will be finalized on Monday, May 16th.
  • Teams should plan to be at Seacoast United in Epping, 30 minutes prior to their first game.
  • Lunch will be served from the concession stand, a representative from each Local Program will need to go to the concession stand to collect lunch tickets for their program.  Please note: Lunch will only be given to people with a lunch ticket.
We ask that each program bring copies of their athletes medical forms (Application for Participation) with them to the tournament.

Local Program Coordinator Needed

 

The Manchester Local Program is looking for a new Local Program Coordinator (LPC).  As the LPC, you would coordinate all activities of the program including practice sites, athlete registrations, compliance and fundraising.  If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity please contact Katie Diggins.

Law Enforcement Torch Run letrandnh
May 20th
The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) begins on May 20th. Law Enforcement officers raise funds to participate in the Torch Run and carry the Flame of Hope around the state, ultimately making their way to the Summer Games in June.  Check out all the legs of the Torch Run and there corresponding dates on our website and support the Guardians of the Flame!
 
5th Annual Carroll County
Law Enforcement Golf Tournament  
June 7, 2011
The Carroll County Law Enforcement Golf Tournament is a fundraiser that will take place at the Ridgewood Golf Club in Moultonborough on June 7th.  Participants will receive a goody bag, lunch and the opportunity to win prizes!  All you need to do is put together a foursome and fill-out the entry form . The tournament will benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Hampshire.
Concord High School Student Raises $11,000 for SONH Athletes
Concord High School student Kristen Burd organized a fashion show to benefit the two athletes from New Hampshire that will be representing the United States as members of Special Olympics Team USA! SONH athletes Cindy Bunszel of Keene and Charlie Helfrich of Henniker will compete at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens, Greece - June 25 - July 4, 2011.
