Law Enforcement Torch Run® Leads Up to State Summer Games
Annual Fundraising Campaign for Special Olympics New Hampshire
Concord, NH (June 4, 2025) – The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Hampshire (SONH) is in its’ 41st year in 2025. In those more than four decades, members of New Hampshire Law Enforcement have generated more than seven million dollars for the programs and athletes of SONH. Today there are more than 150 agencies that participate in Law Enforcement Torch Run initiatives for SONH annually.
Since May 17th, members of Law Enforcement throughout New Hampshire have been carrying the “Flame of Hope” across the state. On Thursday, June 5th, Law Enforcement Torch Run legs from Manchester, Hillsborough and Franklin will converge in Concord at 2:30pm for a celebration on the State House steps.
The State House Celebration will include members of law enforcement and SONH athletes running the torch up Main Street in Concord and on to the State House Plaza. Remarks from dignitaries and athletes will follow the lighting of the cauldron in anticipation of the Summer Games at UNH on Friday and Saturday. The event will conclude with a cookout on the State House Plaza. The State House Celebration is free and open to the public.
In total, the Flame of Hope will travel more than 700 miles, lighting the way for Special Olympics athletes in New Hampshire while championing for inclusion. The Torch will reach its final resting stop when it illuminates the cauldron serving as the kickoff to our annual State Summer Games presented by Associated Grocers on Friday, June 6th at UNH in Durham.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Hampshire is presented by Eversource. “Special Olympics of New Hampshire is an extraordinary organization whose athletes put their heart and talent into every competition,” said Bob Coates, Eversource’s President of NH Electric Operations. “Their enthusiasm and dedication inspire us to go the extra mile to celebrate their achievements, and one of my favorite ways is the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run. Eversource is thrilled to work together with NH’s law enforcement community and sponsor this event,” he continued.
Eversource is a year-round partner with Special Olympics New Hampshire, not only providing volunteers for competitions, but also actively participating in fundraisers like the annual Penguin Plunge at Hampton Beach.
SONH is signing up volunteers now for the hundreds of positions that will be needed for the State Summer Games at UNH this Friday and Saturday. Descriptions of those volunteer opportunities and sign-up can be found here. Information about other events and activities can be found at www.SONH.org.
