Nashua, NH – September 2025 – Under the lights of Holman Stadium this summer, heroes of the community became heroes on the field as local police officers and firefighters went head-to-head in the annual Heroes Cup Baseball Game. The spirited matchup— also known as the battle of the Bravest vs. the Finest—paired each public safety professional with a Special Olympics New Hampshire (SONH) athlete, celebrating the power of inclusion through teamwork, competition, and community pride.

Team Fire took home the 2025 trophy with a 12–6 victory over Team Police, but the real win was for the 2,600 Special Olympics athletes across New Hampshire who benefit from the funds raised through this annual event. Last week, members of Team Fire—including Coach Jon Lopez, a firefighter with the Manchester Fire Department, and Mark Wholey, Director of the New Hampshire Fire Academy & Emergency Medical Services—proudly accepted the Heroes Cup trophy on behalf of their team.

“This event represents more than a game—it’s about connection, camaraderie, and the belief that everyone deserves the chance to shine,” said Mary Conroy, President and CEO for Special Olympics New Hampshire. “The support of our first responders, sponsors, and fans allows us to continue delivering life-changing programs for our athletes statewide.”

Beyond baseball, families and fans enjoyed a full evening of entertainment, including static displays of fire and police vehicles and a post-game fireworks show. Most importantly, the partnership between law enforcement, fire service, and SONH athletes created a shared sense of purpose both on and off the field.

Sponsor Support Makes It Possible

The 2025 Heroes Cup was made possible thanks to the generosity of community partners.

Congratulations again to Team Fire, and thank you to every player, athlete, sponsor, and fan who helped make the 2025 Heroes Cup a success.
