Last week, two New Hampshire high schools were recognized with the Granite State School of Excellence Banner—a distinction that honors schools that meet 10 standards of excellence around Unified Sports, Inclusive Youth Leadership, Whole School Engagement, and a plan for sustainability of their Unified programming.

On Friday, September 26, Dover High School was honored during their Spirit Week pep rally. Dover was recognized for their continued work and dedication to inclusion across their school community. Former DHS Unified athletes and current members of Dover Area Special Olympics—Oliver Livingston, Rylee Jones, and Tessa Goodell—presented the award to Athletic Director Mr. Knight on behalf of the school.

Meanwhile, Newfound Regional High School also earned this distinction with a school-wide assembly that rolled right into the start of Homecoming weekend! The celebration continued on the field during a Unified soccer game against Laconia High School, where students, staff, athletes, and fans came together to show what inclusion and school pride are all about.

Congratulations to both Dover and Newfound for achieving this incredible milestone. You are shining examples of what it means to #PlayUnified and to build inclusive communities where everyone belongs.
