Special Olympics New Hampshire is thrilled to welcome Matt Reed to our Board of Directors!

Matt first connected with SONH more than 15 years ago through Eversource’s involvement in supporting our mission. Since then, he’s been involved in a variety of ways — from volunteering at the State Golf Tournament at Owl’s Nest, to supporting Mega Dippers during their 24 hours of dipping into the icy waters of Lake Winnipesaukee, to taking the plunge himself at the Hampton Beach Penguin Plunge. Each experience, he says, has strengthened his appreciation for the athletes and the heart of the movement.

“Being there in person, supporting athletes as they competed, celebrated, and pushed their own limits opened my eyes to how much the competition meant to them,” Matt shared. “These events are far more than just competitions — they create moments that build confidence, maturity, and a sense of community for the athletes.”

When asked what inspired him to take on a leadership role, Matt said he was eager to bring a new perspective to the Board and help expand SONH’s reach and impact.

“I want to drive engagement — to foster new relationships and growth that ensure the continued success of the organization for any future challenges,” he said.

Outside of volunteering, Matt admits he’s “extremely competitive, but also extremely unathletic,” preferring to show off his skills in cards, board games, and cribbage instead of on the field.

With his enthusiasm, leadership, and passion for inclusion, we’re excited to have Matt join the SONH Board as we continue working together to create opportunities for athletes across New Hampshire to compete, grow, and thrive.
