Captain Hydrate is back for one final adventure.
Special Olympics New Hampshire athlete and Health Messenger Alex Beauchner has released the third and final episode of The Adventures of Captain Hydrate, wrapping up a project that grew from one creative idea into a three-part series featuring Alex and his teammates.
Captain Hydrate first came to life through Alex’s Health Messenger activation project. With support from his mentor, Todd Wormstead, Alex set out to help fellow athletes learn more about hydration and why it matters.
But Alex didn’t stop after one video.
What began as a single project grew into two more episodes, giving Alex and his teammates more opportunities to work together, have fun and share important health information in a way that was approachable and memorable.
Health Education, Captain Hydrate Style
Throughout the series, Alex stepped into the role of Captain Hydrate to turn lessons about hydration into adventures his fellow athletes could enjoy.
The final episode focuses on fatigue and its connection to dehydration, reinforcing why staying hydrated is an important part of taking care of yourself.
And while Captain Hydrate may be the hero on screen, the story behind the videos highlights something just as important: athlete leadership.
Through his Health Messenger training and activation project, Alex took what he learned and found his own way to share it with others. He brought his teammates into the experience and helped make health education something they could learn about together.
One video became three. One activation project became a team effort. And one Health Messenger found a creative way to help other athletes make healthier choices.
That sounds like a pretty successful adventure to us.
