Unified Sports

Special Olympics Unified Sports brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities to train and compete on the same team.  Throughout the year, in a variety of sports ranging from soccer to basketball to golf, Unified Sports athletes improve their physical fitness, sharpen their skills, challenge the competition and have fun too! SONH offers Unified Sports opportunities in nearly all of the sports we offer.

NHIAA and SONH Unified Sports Partnership
Special Olympics New Hampshire (SONH) has partnered with the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association (NHIAA) to create three seasons of Special Olympics Unified Sports within New Hampshire high schools beginning in the fall of 2011.

The collaboration between the two organizations will bring New Hampshire high school students with intellectual disabilities and their peers without disabilities together on the same team. The Unified Sports teams will compete against other unified teams in regular season play and will culminate with a championship. The NHIAA and SONH partnership will feature unified play in soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter and track and field in the spring. To learn more about this partnership please visit our Project UNIFY page.
